Anna Whicher is Head of Policy at PDR, the International Design and Research Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She has led European funded projects on integrating design into innovation policy (Sharing Experience Europe, SEE platform) and using design methods for public service development (The SPIDER Project). Most recently, she has been exploring how design methods can create an inclusive dialogue between citizens, community groups and politicians called ProtoPolicy. She is a board member of the Bureau of European Design Associations and an advisor to the Design Council on the Design for Europe platform.

The following interview was done by Diseño Público to Benjamin Brown, Policy Adviser at the Design Council, who works with the UK government to explore how design can support sustainable economic growth and create better public services to improve people’s lives. He also contributes to the Design for Europe platform.
Previously he worked at Social Enterprise UK, working on policy across social innovation and ethical business, as well as managed their research programme. Before that he worked at the BBC and spent four years doing policy at Arts Council England, including co-writing their 10-year strategy.

Camilla Buchanan is Policy Advisor at the Design Council in the UK. In this piece, Camilla briefly explains their experience in the process of design capacity building for public servants. This article was written specially for Diseño Público opening a series of futures collaborations.
